THE YEAR OF MATH & SCIENCE

Why is learning math and science important?

The Park City School District could be at the head of the pack in math and science, giving our kids the skills and edge they need to excel at every stage of their lives.

The top ten high schools, as recognized by Newsweek magazine’s national poll, have first-rate math and science programs, offering students robotic laboratories, access to electron microscopes and rich professional development opportunities for teachers.M

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could offer those resources to our students?

Imagine the competitive edge they would have!

How does investing in math and science benefit my child?

Research shows teachers have the single greatest impact on your child’s success in math and science. Teachers need:

  • Lab equipment,
  • Supplies for experiments,
  • Professional Development that is motivating, relevant and inquiry based – a type of learning they will be called on to offer their students,
  • Access to innovative ideas and programs around the country,
  • Support from other math and science teachers, and
  • Collaborations with scientific institutions.

When PCEF gets behind something – it makes a difference!

Because of recent and impending budget cuts, Park City’s schools need private support. Tax dollars are just not enough.

For more than 20 years, the Park City Education Foundation has been bridging that funding gap. Our programs have verified positive results, ranging from improving student’s math and reading skills in after-school programs to encouraging students to enroll in more AP and honors classes since the addition of IB.

You can do your part to enhance math and science in our district by giving $180 for each child you have enrolled in the district.
