The Park City Education Foundation recently completed a district-wide campaign to raise money for local school programs. The organization's multifaceted effort included a phone drive that involved hundreds of parents and students and netted more than $60,000. The donations will be used to fund a variety of projects, many of which were designed by local teachers to fill specific needs in our school district from preschool to high school, from special needs to gifted and talented. The funds are especially welcome in the face of budget cuts that have affected every school in the country.

Hordes of volunteers made call after call - more than 130 in total - all in support of the Park City Education Foundation. The annual Phone-A-Thon, an event where volunteers call Park City parents asking for donations for the nonprofit, raised more than $41,000 in a single week including several matching grants from local businesses.

The Park City Education Foundation is calling on parents to "Beat the Call," an annual program preceding a phone-a-thon scheduled for later this month. Beat the Call is an opportunity to donate to PCEF, the local nonprofit the raises funds for the Park City School District, before calls are made to every parent in the district. Beat the Call will run through the end of the week, and the nonprofit is asking for a $180 donation, a dollar for every day of the school year.

A tidal wave of donations poured in the Live PC Give PC "Day of Giving," and education-based nonprofits were a healthy part of where donations went. The top recipients during the event included the Park City Education Foundation, the Park City Day School and Holy Cross Ministries, all of which had specific education-related missions outlined for where the Day of Giving funds would be used.

The Park City Education Foundation wants teachers to think outside the box. As the Teacher Grants Committee begins to comb through a flood of requests, that is exactly what the nonprofit is hoping to fund, innovation in the classroom.
