The Park City Education Foundation teacher grant applications are due by Monday, Oct. 31. The foundation allotted more than $40,000 for teacher grants this year. A review process will begin after the grants are submitted, followed by approval from the PCEF Board. Proposals that are funded will be awarded mid-December. According to Park City Education Foundation Executive Director Abby McNulty, the best grants are innovative and motivate students to learn in a particular classroom. Teachers are required to submit a one-paragraph summary identifying their goals along with an action and assessment plan.

The Park City Education Foundation has agreed to set aside $60,000 over the next three years to fund the districtwide technology endorsement program, which started a month ago. The program seeks to train teachers on how to integrate laptop technology in the classroom. According to Park City Education Foundation Communications Manager Jennifer Billow, the district grant will provide support for professional development for technology integration.

The Park City Education Foundation's annual fundraiser, the Red Apple Gala raised more than $180,000, at Montage Deer Valley on Saturday, to be invested into the Park City School District. This year, the PCEF will be investing $350,000 in district, teacher and site grants, according to Park City Education Foundation Event Coordinator Jennifer Billow, who said that's about $150,000 more than last year.

Treasure Mountain International School will be the second school in the Park City School District to put laptops in the hands of its students. The initiative will give seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders the opportunity to communicate with teachers and gain access to assignments, videos, lessons and notes on a secure website.

The Park City School District will implement an after-school program in each of its elementary schools this year. Tom VanGorder, Park City School District student services director, said the district received a $70,000 grant from United Way and the district has partnered with several local organizations to expand the program.
