2013 - 2014 Site Grants
PCEF is pleased to fund $180,000 in school Site Grants for the 2013 - 2014 school year!
Park City High School
- National Competition Fund - $11,000
- The Academic Competition National Travel fund alleviates program costs for groups like HOSA, FBLA, debate, Academic Decathlon, and others that qualify to compete on the national stage.
- Author-in-Residence - $11,000
- The Author-In-Residence Program offers students, faculty and community members an opportunity to come together in a unique way by all reading the same book, and just as importantly, interacting with a published author. Our goal is to stimulate thought, raise expectations for curricular excellence and unite the student body in a common goal.
- PCHS Robotics Club - $13,000
- Grant covers costs to develop a nationally competitive PCHS FTC Robotics team with the underlying goal of instilling engineering principles and procedures through cooperative teaming.
- Drama Department - $4,500
- Grant funds Actor in Residence and supports the Fall Musical. Allows students unique and valuable experiences and shows them the various opportunities that exist within this particular field - ranging from acting, directing, producing, cinematography, to sound engineering.
- Film Department - $5,000
- This program offers cutting-edge technology that takes PCHS Filmmaking and Video Production to the next level. By offering DSLR cameras, students gain relevant education in filmmaking with unsurpassed versatility.
- Fee Waivers for Needy Students - $2,500
- Funds fee waivers for students with financial need so that all students may participate equally in extra-curricular activities and fee-related classes.
Treasure Mountain Junior High
- Math Remediation and Recovery Credit - $10,000
- Funds a diagnostic math program (which is being piloted second semester 2013) that identifies students’ math fluency weaknesses. This program then provides lessons that reinforce and reteach what the individual student needs.
- Leadership Program - $9,000
- Leadership uses experiential and service-based learning to develop self leadership in students. These students then continue to excel in the classroom and community as leaders and role models. Funds materials and speaker fees.
- LEAP - $10,000
- LEAP provides an example of how our Gifted and Talented along with our High Ability students learning experiences can be incorporated into the school district’s education program across a continuum. Tapping into both student interest and community resources, everyone wins. In addition LEAP ties into the Park City School District’s commitment to community service.
Ecker Hill Middle School
- Smart Music - $13,815
- An online music program that students use to "pass" their basic skills test. Allows the classroom to move forward at a faster clip.
- Endorsement for G&T Education - $12,500
- Grant supports teachers in pursuing and completing their gifted education endorsement. Research shows that gifted endorsed teachers are better equipped to motivate and challenge all students.
Trailside Elementary School
- Mac Airs - $16,000
- The laptops purchased with this grant will ensure that all Trailside students, beginning in third grade, will have access to technology throughout the year that will enhance instruction and help prepare them for system-wide assessments. Purchase of the Mac Airs, the most current Mac model, will provide the school with laptop technology that will be used for the next five to six years.
- Enrichment Materials to Support Critical Thinking - $5,000
- Think It provides high-quality practices required for mastery of the critical thinking that is emphasized in the Utah Common Core State Standards for reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The nonfiction book collections, with a focus on informational science and social studies text, will provide Trailside teachers with collections of books that target genres other than narrative and fictional text.
McPolin Elementary School
- Art Specialist - $10,000
- The McPolin Visual Arts Specialist ensures that every student is introduced to the seven elements of art: texture, form, space, shape, color, value and line through the visual arts applications of painting, drawing and collage. MPES is committed to teaching the whole child as well as promoting a culture of lifelong learning
- Science Specialist - $10,000
- Science is a way of knowing and seeing the world. Funds a Science Specialist to bring McPolin students experiential Science learning with hands-on, brains-in lab settings and activities.
Jeremy Ranch Elementary School
- Science Room Coordinator - $15,000
- Funds a Science Room Coordinator at Jeremy Ranch to provide all of students with greater access to high-quality, hands-on Science experiences.
Parley’s Park Elementary School
- Art Specialist - $10,000
- Fund a part-time art specialist to take Parley's Park volunteer-initiated monthly art lessons to the next level, by incorporating more experienced art instruction, improving upon the projects, and expanding the program to possibly include an annual art show/fundraiser.
All Elementary Schools
- Engineering Adventures in After School Program - $12,000
- Engineering Adventures, developed at the Museum of Science in Boston, is specifically geared toward after-school programs. Implementing the program will not only enhance district efforts in STEM across all 4 elementary schools, but will also provide students who often miss science instruction during the school day with engaging, hands-on science activities one day per week.

- $1,485 Latinos in Action program - funds start-up costs for a scholarship program
- $10,000 for the National Competition Fund - covers costs associated with students invited to participate in regional and national academic competitions
- $10,050 for Author-in-Residence program
- $12,500 for Drama program - funds Playwright-in-Residence, Fall Musical, Drama Department camera, technical/backstage & acting initiatives
