PCEF Presents Teaching Excellence Awards to Eight Outstanding Educators in the Park City School District

April 18, 2011 - The Park City Education Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2011 Doilney-Barnes Teaching Excellence Awards and the Sarah & Stephen Doilney Teaching Excellence Award.
Each spring, the Park City Education Foundation (PCEF) announces an example of teaching excellence at each of the Park City School District’s seven schools, as voted by teachers and school district staff, PCSD’s Board of Education, PTO/PTA officers and PCEF’s Board of Directors.

The Sarah & Stephen Doilney Award This year, the Class of 2011 named Kelly Wedding as the educator who influenced them the most during their years in the Park City School District. Some of the best comments describing her influence have come from her students, including:
- She worked hard for her students, is enthusiastic and clearly loves teaching.
- Her optimism makes coming to school enjoyable.
- She taught me more about life than any other teacher. I also learned a thing or two about science.

Employees of the School District were asked to nominate someone who they felt exemplified excellence in their schools. This year, the Doilney-Barnes Teaching Excellence Award Recipients are:
Jeremy Ranch Elementary: Susan Brewer, IT education specialist
- She helps teach us how to do things, rather than doing them for us. That way we learn to fend for ourselves.
- Her skillful training of teachers has allowed exponential numbers of students to have more exciting and effective computer experiences.

McPolin Elementary: Sandy Schmitt, reading interventionist
- She is wonderful with the children and always gives her best daily.
- She is patient and encouraging at all times to the students she so diligently works with. Sandy makes the difference in the lives of struggling readers.

Parley's Park Elementary: LeAnn Rocchi, 4th grade
- LeAnn works tirelessly to accommodate all the diverse learners in her classroom.
- She provides a great balance of driving her kids to do their best and
keeping the classroom fun.

Trailside Elementary: Linda Martin, front office administrator
- Trailside is the school it is because of her commitment.
- She is warm and caring with the children as well as her staff. She goes out of her way to make new children/families feel welcome in our school.

Ecker Hill: Jennifer Ivers, front office administrator
- She truly holds the staff together, and makes us all feel welcome to approach her.
- She calmly and happily deals with teachers, administrators, parents and students with a positive attitude.

Treasure Mountain: Laura Huggins, special education
- Laura is by far the most compassionate, committed and motivated teacher I have ever worked with.
- Having the opportunity to work with Laura has been learning experience in how to live a life with grace and compassion.

Park City High School/Learning Center: Anita Booher, library & media specialist
- Anita makes a difference for kids and teachers every day. She is always available to assist everyone in every way she can.
