May 11, 2010 - The Park City Education Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2010 Doilney-Barnes Teaching Excellence Awards and the Sarah & Stephen Doilney Teaching Excellence Award.
Each spring, the Park City Education Foundation (PCEF) announces an example of teaching excellence at each of the Park City School District’s seven schools, as voted by teachers and school district staff, PCSD’s Board of Education, PTO/PTA officers and PCEF’s Board of Directors.
More than 80 teachers received nominations from their peers. The recipients at each school are:
Park City High School - Anna Williams*
Treasure Mountain International School - Iris Durfee
Ecker Hill International Middle School - Kerry Griffith
Trailside Elementary School - Dan Meier*
Parley’s Park Elementary School - Sherie Gibson*
McPolin Elementary School - Tori Carson
Jeremy Ranch Elementary School - Ginny Etheridge
In addition, PCEF asked the Senior Class to nominate a teacher they considered most influential to them for the Sarah & Stephen Doilney Teaching Excellence Award. The Class of 2010 voted, and Roger Arsht*, an English teacher at Park City High School, is this year’s recipient.
Representatives from throughout the community, including PCSD Superintendent Dr. Ray Timothy, Park City Council member Cindy Matsumoto, School Board members Kim Carson, Anne Bransford and Moe Hickey, as well as PCEF Board members and PTO parents, came out to celebrate these teachers on the snowy Tuesday in May.
These awards are made possible with the generous contributions of the Doilney family and Mike Barnes and the Sarah & Stephen Doilney Teaching Excellence Award Endowment. PCEF organizes the presentation each year, this year with an Excursion limousine donated by Park City Transportation and balloon bouquets sponsored by Park City Council member Liza Simpson.
Congratulations to all our teachers for their amazing work with our students every year!
